What does a typical day of committee sessions look like?
While the specifics depend on your committee’s agenda, a typical day usually starts with a recap from the moderator and then opens the floor for motions, points of clarification, or continued debate. The committee then decides the course of action, whether to move into a moderated caucuses, address outstanding directives, or consider new information. I’m an independent delegate. How do I get to Regina for the conference?
As an independent delegate, you can reach Regina by flying into Regina International Airport (YQR). From there, you can take a taxi or rideshare to your accommodation. The University of Regina is easily accessible by local transit or car. Make sure to plan your travel in advance and check for any travel advisories.
To plan your route via public transit, we recommend you use services like Google Maps and Transitapp as they provide the most timely information on public transit times, departures and services. In general, it’s wise to plan to arrive on campus 30 minutes before your first committee session, to account for any possible delays.
Can URMUN provide me with an invitation letter to show my school/university?
The URMUN Team is happy to provide invitation letters to persons/delegations that have registered, been approved, and have paid their fees.
Invitation letters are commonly used to justify absence from school or university.

I’m new to Model UN. Does URMUN have any beginner committees?
First off, don’t worry, we were all beginners at one point! URMUN welcomes delegates of all experience levels, from beginners to advanced. Our committees are designed to cater to different levels of experience: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. For detailed information on each committee, please visit our Committees pages. We also offer various resources to help you prepare. Delegate’s Guide to Model UN is an excellent starting point for understanding the basics. Rules of Procedure provides a comprehensive explanation of how committees operate. Since it is a multiple day conference, is feeding and accommodations provided?
Yes, feeding is provided during the conference. Delegates/Delegations will receive 3 square meals daily, which are included in the delegate fees.
Accommodations for the conference are optional and are not included in your delegate/delegation fee. However, we offer assistance to delegates and staff sponsors seeking overnight accommodations in Regina. If you are interested in arranging accommodation on campus or would like recommendations for various options,

What dates will the conference be taking place on?
URMUN will be taking place from March 20th – 23rd, 2025.
Can we register more delegates afterwards if we register some in Early Bird?
Head Delegates and Faculty Advisors should register their delegation as soon as possible. Individual delegates have the flexibility to register at any time during the registration periods. You can register delegates during the Early Bird, Regular, or Late registration periods. This allows for maximum flexibility and ensures everyone can participate at a time that suits them best.
When is the early bird registration deadline? And when is the regular one?
Early Bird registration—which opens on July 31st—will close on August 30th or whenever the 50 Early Bird spots are filled, whichever comes first. Regular registration opens following Early Bird registration on September 10th —will close on November 5th

Do I need to do any work or prepare materials beforehand?
Can we register more delegates than the approximate amount we state on the Delegation Registeration form?
For sure! The Delegation Registeration form requests that Faculty Advisors or Head Delegates indicate an approximate number of delegates which will be a part of the delegation, but we understand that the number is tentative. Feel free to register more or less delegates than the approximate number indicated on the Delegation Registeration form!
Can URMUN provide me with an invitation letter to support my visa application?
The URMUN Team is happy to assist persons/delegations in obtaining visas to Regina, Canada in order to attend the conference. Please note this can only be supplied if a delegate has registered, been approved, and made payment in full.

I’ve never attended a Model UN before. How can I prepare for URMUN25?
What is the payment and cancellation policy?
Independent delegates and delegations paying individually will be required to pay upfront by the individual delegate to reserve their Early Bird spot—due to this, the delegate will receive 50% of their payment if they decide to cancel. For delegations paying as a group, invoices will be sent to Faculty Advisors (or the main contact of the delegation) on a rolling basis. Delegates who decide to cancel during Regular registration will receive 25% of their payment. Delegates who registered during the Late Registration period will not receive a refund. After April 13, 2025, refunds will no longer be issued

Do delegates have the option to rank top 3 committee choices as part of their registration?
Yes! On the delegate registration form, you can indicate your top 3 committee choices. The Secretariat will take these preferences into consideration when assigning delegates to committees.
Where is the conference located?
URMUN is hosted and organized by students of the University of Regina and staffed by undergraduate students from universities across Canada. The conference takes place at the University of Regina’s main campus, located in southeast Regina.
